The Montana State University Bobcats hockey team put on a dominant performance Friday night, defeating the Boise State Broncos 6-1 in front of a packed house at Campion Ice House. The Bobcats came out strong, firing 46 shots on goal while holding the Broncos to just 18. Despite having a few chances on the powerplay, neither team was able to capitalize, as the Bobcats went 0-4 and the Broncos went 0-10.
The Bobcats were led by Ryan Perius, who scored two goals in the victory. Jorgen Johnson was stellar in net for the Bobcats, stopping 40 of the Broncos’ 18 shots. Brad Johnson was just as impressive for the Broncos, stopping 40 of the Bobcats’ 46 shots.
The Bobcats were able to put the game away early, taking a 5-0 lead into the third period. The Broncos were able to get on the board late in the third, as Micah Crum scored the lone goal for the Broncos.
The Bobcats were able to take advantage of the Broncos’ mistakes and capitalize on their opportunities, and the result was a convincing 6-1 victory. The Bobcats will look to continue their winning ways when they take on the University of Idaho Vandals next week.
