The Montana State University Bobcats faced off against the Schoolcraft College Ocelots yesterday at the Plager Arena-CCIC, with the Ocelots coming out on top in a thrilling 4-2 victory. The Bobcats put up a strong fight, but ultimately couldn’t match the Ocelots’ offensive onslaught.
Despite firing off 26 shots on goal, the Bobcats only managed to find the back of the net twice. On the other side of the rink, the Ocelots were more successful, scoring four goals from their 37 shots. Both teams had a powerplay opportunity but neither was able to capitalize.
Bobcats’ goalie, Nikolai Wallery, had a busy day between the pipes, facing a barrage of 37 shots and making 33 saves. His counterpart, Leo Tykoski of the Ocelots, was tested less frequently but still managed to keep 24 of the Bobcats’ 26 shots out of the net.
Despite the loss, Bobcats’ #19 Wes Innes had a standout performance with two assists. On the Ocelots’ side, #26 Logan Tripp was a key player, scoring one of the team’s four goals.
The Bobcats will be looking to bounce back in their next game, which is an away match against Niagara University. The puck drops at 8:15 pm CDT on Friday, March 13, at Plager Arena-CCIC. The team will be hoping for a more favorable result to keep their season on track.
