by MSU Bobcats Hockey | Oct 2, 2026

The Montana State University Bobcats faced a tough loss on the road against the University of Utah Utes, falling short with a final score of 4-2 at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex.

The Bobcats managed 24 shots throughout the game, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, with their powerplay going 0 for 3. The Utes, on the other hand, fired off 32 shots, converting on two of their five powerplay opportunities.

Bobcats’ goaltender, Callum Welch, put up a valiant effort with 28 saves on 32 shots. Despite his performance, the Utes’ offensive pressure proved too much. On the other side of the ice, Utes’ goalie Jack Nowicki stopped 22 out of 24 shots, helping secure the Utes’ victory.

Bobcats’ Wes Innes managed to put one past Nowicki, marking his first goal of the game. However, the Utes’ Daniel Carroll played a key role in the victory, contributing with two assists.

Despite the loss, the Bobcats are looking ahead to their next game, an away match against Utah State University on Friday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm MDT at the Eccles Ice Center. The team is eager to bounce back and secure a win in their upcoming match.
